Relaxed and approachable, this downtown Charleston, S.C., gem serves seasonally inspired food using locally sourced, sustainable ingredients, many of which come straight from the farmer. Chef Mike Lata offers a rotating menu of simple yet refined classics like fish stew in cocotte and suckling pig confit with carrots, greens, and mustard jus, and also emphasizes some lesser-known seafood, like banded rudderfish with butterbeans, mint, lemon confit, and olives. The cuisine may appear to be simple at first glance, but with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients available, the food speaks for itself. -- Dan Myers

  • If you're only going to have one meal in Charleston, this is where to get it. There's a full menu and amazing service at the bar, so if you can't get a table, try anyway and grab a seat at the bar.
  • No reservations. Get here super early for a table. Minimum 90 minute wait at 8pm.
