These Are The Most Popular Ice Cream Flavors In America, According To Twitter

With summer just around the corner (and already rearing its head in certain parts of the country), we've got ice cream on the brain. So we reached out to the folks at Twitter and asked them which ice cream flavors people are Tweeting about the most, and after crunching some numbers for us, they were able to exclusively tell us which flavors have gotten the most Twitter mentions in each state over the past year.

Believe it or not, every state had chocolate as its most tweeted-about flavor, with vanilla coming in second place. But the third-place flavor differed from state to state, with three flavors getting nearly all of the third-place mentions: cookie dough, strawberry, and chocolate chip. Here's how it broke down:

Cookie Dough: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Wisconsin

Strawberry: Arkansas, California, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wyoming

Chocolate Chip: Delaware, Idaho, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington

Eagle-eyed geography buffs might have noticed that there's a state missing from the list; the one outlier is Louisiana, which voted for brownie as its No. 3 flavor.

And in case you're wondering which states had the most ice cream discussion on Twitter per capita? The list (counting down from No. 10) is: Texas, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, California, Georgia, Maryland, Arizona, and Washington, D.C., which took the top spot. They must really like their ice cream in the capital! For America's 35 best ice cream parlors, click here.
