Happy Birthday To The Original Queen Bee

For those of you that aren't aware, today marks the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The queen, who has ruled longer than any other monarch in British history, has become quite an admired and respected figure world wide. The acclaimed Tribeca bakery, Duane Park Patisserie, has teamed up with Boodles Mulberry gin, a liquor inspired by the British tradition of sloe gin. Chef Madeline Lanciani artistically created a set of limited edition petit fours, in celebration of this day and the queen's British heritage.

Duane Park is known for its 100 percent handmade from scratch French, German, and Austrian sweets, pastries, and custom cakes. These petit fours ate no exception and are both incredibly detailed and almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The bites sized cakes are intricately decorated and infused with Boodles Mulberry Gin, a liquor inspired by the British tradition of sloe gin.

Boodles Proper British Gin introduced Boodles Mulberry, the first-ever mulberry gin in America, last year. Boodles Mulberry pays homage to the mulberry tree, a common sight on the English countryside, and for this reason this liquor was chosen to collaborate with Duane Park in honoring the Queen's big day. This sweet gin is deliciously flavored with mulberries, with hints of raspberries and currants within each sip.

The petit fours, sold in store today only, come in boxes of four and 12. The delectable treats are meticulously crafted by chef Lanciani and are the perfect accompaniment with afternoon tea or coffee. Or if you're me, with your morning cup of coffee.
