Enjoy Bites Of The Big Apple At The New York Marriott At The Brooklyn Bridge
In the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, the New York Marriott at The Brooklyn Bridge recently unveiled the first phase of a $43 million renovation and reposition with the opening of The Bar in June.
Inspired by the venue's vibrant surrounding neighborhood, the hotel's new social hub artfully blends the popular industrial chic aesthetic with a carefully curated menu featuring local purveyors of food and drink. Surfaces of glass, metal, and subway tile impart New York City's distinctive sense of urbanity while the metal artwork displayed over the room's fireplace featuring the various neighborhoods of Brooklyn lets you know exactly which borough you're in.
Nestled smack dab in the middle of the civic and commercial center of Brooklyn, surrounded by Borough Hall and the MetroTech Center, The Bar at the New York Marriott at The Brooklyn Bridge caters to hotel guests and locals alike. The perfect spot to stop by for post-work drinks with colleagues or to entertain a client, The Bar also caters to the businessperson on-the-go, with The Pantry offering a selection of prepackaged Brooklyn-made snacks and sandwiches for those guests with not enough time to sit down for a meal.
The emphasis on local products and ingredients lets those travelers who normally wouldn't be able to enjoy the true culture and cuisine of a destination get a small and tantalizing taste of what the borough has to offer. Chef Al Kobe designed and executes a menu as authentic as Brooklyn itself, blending classic dishes with local ingredients and a modern approach. The meatballs will put your grandma's to shame, a statement not to be made lightly in the greater Metropolitan area, but the truth! Served in a blistered tomato sauce with shaved ricotta salata and garlic bread, The Bar's meatballs reflect the hotel's dedication to staying true to their location.
Other highlights from the menu include a trumpet pasta dish with oyster mushrooms, roasted fennel, and freshly extruded pasta sourced from Sfoglini: a Brooklyn-based producer of small batch pastas; lemon and rosemary grilled chicken wings; and house chips served with grilled onion and lager dip. The chips and dip up the ante on a classic bar dish with the flagship beer from one of Brooklyn's foremost breweries, Brooklyn Brewery.
The Bar's focus on locally sourcing extends to their beverage offerings as well, with beers from Brooklyn Brewery and Sixpoint Brewery craft ales, wines from Brooklyn Winery, and soft drinks from Olde Brooklyn. Well-crafted specialty cocktails like the Brooklyn's Egg Cream also emphasize The Bar's commitment to authenticity, adding Hudson Baby bourbon and coffee liqueur to a diner staple.
