Although you may still be cooling off by the pool and have your air conditioning on blast, pumpkin spice latte season is upon us. For many, PSL season ushers in the spirit of crunchy leaves, scarves, and colder weather. The iconic beverage has practically become synonymous with fall. However, Starbucks plans on rolling out their sweet pumpkin-y beverages while you may still be planning your last gasp summer vacation — before Labor Day.
According to internal documents viewed by Business Insider, Starbucks will debut their PSLs on August 28. Customers have been estimating when the cinnamon-y orange beverage would return, and employees have been teasing photos of PSL supplies online. Last year the popular beverage debuted on September 5, even though the first official day of fall 2017 was September 22. This year, PSLs will make their triumphant return almost a full month before the first 2018 fall day. The documents also revealed that the chain would bring back the Salted Caramel Mocha as well as the Teavana Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte — which is a less sweet version of the PSL (and honestly pretty tasty).
While they await release day, PSL-die-hards can take their caffeinated excitement to Starbucks’ new fall-themed Facebook group. The “Leaf Rakers Society,” as it’s called, has over 13,000 members and is dedicated to celebrating fall “Fall. Year. Long.” Ha, ha.
“This is a safe place for a) pumpkins b) year-round scarf-wearers c) those who would rather work on their Halloween costume than their tan d) members of the Great Pumpkinwatch 2017 Facebook Group,” the group’s description reads.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte Twitter account even tweeted about the group — after not tweeting for almost a year — writing, “Going offline for a while. Busy modeling for the #LeafRakersSociety Facebook Group.”
According to a press release, the brand is also releasing on-the-go pumpkin spice K-cups, pods, and cookie straws at grocery stores nationwide. You know, in case you need your pumpkin fix while slathering SPF 50 all over your shoulders.
The Daily Meal reached out to Starbucks about the 2018 PSL launch, to which they responded “Our pumpkins aren't ready to make their handcrafted PSL debut yet — we'll have more to share soon!” So mark your calendars, but don’t get too excited — there are still 50 things you still need to do this summer.
