Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, there’s nothing like a good old-fashioned ice cream float. Cold, creamy, and fizzy, bubbly soda pop and scoops of ice cream make the perfect pair. We like ice cream floats so much that we decided to make them the theme of this week’s SWAT (Sharing With A Theme). The result? Lots of cold, creamy, crave-worthy recipes!
We asked The Daily Meal staff and Culinary Content Network members to share their best ice cream float recipes, and the submissions were every bit as fizz-tastic as we had hoped. Here are this week’s highlights.
Root Beer Float with Almond Whipped Cream
It’s hard to improve upon a classic, but Donna from Cookistry has done just that. She makes the classic root beer float even better by using coffee ice cream and a scratch-made almond whipped cream. (Please excuse us while we run to the store for some root beer…)
Bourbon Vanilla and Ginger Beer Float
Daily Meal Editor Emma Alpern is on to something here: bourbon vanilla ice cream, ginger beer, and a shot of bourbon? We’ll take two, please!
G'Day Mate-y Yerba Mate Floats
This week’s winning recipe comes from Chrissy, the blogger behind The Hungary Buddha Eats the World. She scores big points for creativity (and deliciousness) by mixing yerba mate tea with fresh ginger, vanilla ice cream, and sparkling water for a truly magical ice cream float.
All of the recipes featured this week are easy to make at home without spending a lot on ingredients. Ready to mix up some fizzy ice cream floats of your own? Here are 10 ideas to get you started.
