This month, Oscar Mayer has unveiled two new product lines: Bacon Jerky (in Bourbon Barbecue and Teriyaki Ginger) and an “Old World Style” line of deli meats with four flavors (Classic Salami, Cracked Black Pepper Salami, Classic Pepperoni and Turkey Pepperoni).
Although bacon jerky does already exist, Oscar Mayer is the first major brand to introduce bacon jerky. Oscar Mayer Bacon Jerky, the latest creation from the Oscar Mayer Institute for the Advancement of Bacon, is made of 100 percent real bacon and is shelf stable, which makes it possible for you to have bacon with you at all times.
In The Daily Meal offices, the samples we tried lasted all of 48 hours — before they were all gobbled up.
As for Oscar Mayer’s new deli meats, the brand is introducing an “old world inspired” line of Italian cured meats just in time for the new school year. As American households are eating more sandwiches than ever before (25 percent more now than in 2006, according to a trend report from 2012), Oscar Mayer has responded by expanding its product lines.
“We want to help food fans revamp their brown-bag-lunch routines, and the Old World Style meats offer an authentic option for the whole family to enjoy,” said Tom Bick, senior director of integrated marketing and advertising at Oscar Mayer.
