Bacon, Beer, Bands And Humor: 13th Annual Baconfest Benefit In Atlanta

Ironically, Kevin Bacon (no pun intended) was one of the many faces in the packed crowd of people in Atlanta during last year's Baconfest. Like all everyone else, his intentions were to simply hang out with a cup of crisp bacon in one hand, an ice cold beer in the other, chillin' to the sounds of ocal bands on stage, while playing carnival games and tasting other great food amidst a relxed crowd of people all afternoon long. For this reason that Baconfest–an where all proceeds benefit the improv theater of Dad's Garage, is now in its 13th year!

From 1 to 6pm on Saturday, March 30th, the wildly popular event will once again descend upon the Inman Park section of the city, home of the thriving, mid-size Dad's Garage Theater–a local nonprofit theatre that produces comedy improve and original scripted work year-round, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30 p.m.

The kitschy festival has become a fixture in the Atlanta community by combining all of the above, manned by the best improvisers in the city plus more unforgettable entertainment. Past popular games have included: Hunt an Improviser; a Wheelchair Obstacle Course; Hobo Wine Tasting; Name That Keanu Quote; Insult Booth; Compliment Booth; the Victorian Phone Sex Booth; and many more.

In addition to the over 1,200 pounds of bacon donated by The Vortex Bar & Grill, to be cooked by local grill masters at D.B.A. Barbecue, returning this year is the "Whole Hog!" This VIP ticket option gives festival-goers exclusive access to a whole pig roasted by the critically acclaimed barbecue masters at Bone Lick BBQ and delicious specialty brews. Additionally, local businesses such as Diesel Filling Station, P'cheen International Bistro and Pub, Pine Street Market, Corner Tavern, King of Pops, and The Wrecking Bar have jumped on board to provide tastings and special offerings for attendees. More details about this year's bands, games and partners will be announced in the coming weeks.
