Valentine's Day Popcorn Recipe

Nothing screams Valentine's Day more than sweet treats. The only thing better than a sweet treat is a treat that's equal parts salty and sweet. Whether you're having a night in with the girls, hanging with the guys, or having a romantic evening with someone special, this Valentine's Day popcorn is the perfect way to end the day. All you need are a few ingredients, including a bag of popcorn that you toss in the microwave, and cook in no time. This is great to enjoy after dinner, or even as a mid-day pick-me-up.

Recipe developer Christina Musgrave of Tasting With Tina is the brains behind this perfect treat to share with someone special. "I love that this is so easy to make, and a great treat to make with kids," she raves. "It has fun Valentine's Day colors and chocolate, which everyone loves on Valentine's Day." Keep reading to find out how to make this awesome festive snack.

Gather the ingredients for this Valentine's Day popcorn recipe

This recipe requires just 4 ingredients. All you will need is a bag of full-sized popcorn, white chocolate, a mixture of red, pink, and white M&M's, and red and pink sprinkles. If you don't like white chocolate, Musgrave says "You can use any kind of chocolate."

Once you have those things, you can make this Valentine's Day popcorn.

Pop the popcorn, and add the white chocolate

Grab the bag of popcorn, and cook it according to the package instructions. Different brands will vary in terms of cooking times. Once popped, transfer the popcorn into a large bowl.

Slowly drizzle ¼ cup of the melted white chocolate over the popcorn. Give the bowl a few good shakes to coat the popcorn in the white chocolate.

Top with the remaining ingredients

Take out a large baking sheet, and add the popcorn and chocolate mixture. Then, top the popcorn with the remaining white chocolate, M&M's, and sprinkles. "It is key to make sure you lay the popcorn down [flat] to finish drizzling chocolate, and adding toppings so everything is [evenly distributed]," Musgrave shares. Let the chocolate cool and harden at room temperature, or in the fridge.

Serve and enjoy

Once the popcorn cools, and the chocolate hardens, add the mixture back to the bowl and serve. Then, just kick back, relax, and enjoy this delicious salty and sweet treat by the handful. "Serve this with other Valentine's Day candy, on a candy board for a fun themed treat," Musgrave suggests. "This lasts 1 to 2 days in a sealed plastic bag at room temperature," Musgrave adds.
