"These sliders are simple, delicious, and are perfect for get-togethers and potlucks," she raves. Another thing to note is that this dish is super versatile. "While I opted to make these with ham and Swiss, you can substitute any meats you'd like, and it works just as well," Johnson shares.

Gather the ingredients for these baked ham and cheese sliders

This recipe calls for a few ingredients, including Hawaiian rolls, mayonnaise, sliced ham, sliced Swiss cheese, salted butter, brown sugar, stone-ground mustard, Worcestershire sauce, dried minced onion, and poppy seeds.

Once you have those things, you can make these baked ham and cheese sliders.

Build the sliders

First, slice the entire pack of rolls in half through the middle. Then, use a pastry brush or knife to spread the mayo on the top and bottom halves of the rolls. Place the bottom half into a baking dish, and assemble, starting first with the ham, and then a layer of Swiss cheese. Place the other roll half on top to complete the sandwich. 

Mix the sauce, and add poppy seeds

Combine the melted butter, brown sugar, stone-ground mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and dried minced onion in a small bowl, and then drizzle the mixture over the constructed sliders.

Next, sprinkle the poppy seeds on top, and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours. "These really taste best if allowed to sit overnight, but you can get by with only waiting a few hours if you'd prefer," Johnson shares.

Bake and serve

After chilling in the refrigerator, preheat the oven to 350 F. While you wait for the oven to preheat, cut the sliders in the baking dish so that they are easier to remove once cooked. Then, place them into the oven, and bake for 15 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown. These are best enjoyed warm and freshly baked, and also pair well with other appetizers or french fries. 

"Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days," Johnson notes. "Once they are cooked, I typically eat them cold to avoid getting them soggy by reheating, but you can reheat in the oven or air fryer to attempt to keep them crisp on the top."
