Culinary Connectors checked out Jezebel’s Southern Kitchen and Bar in Denver, and loved the fried pickles, cornbread, Brunswick stew, and red velvet cheesecake.
Out in Los Angeles, Gourmet Pigs had a meal at one of the city’s hottest new restaurants, Allumette, in Echo Park. Hamachi crudo, scallop tartare, carrot salad, fried oyster, stewed octopus, cavatelli with uni ragù, pork shoulder, braised shortrib (pictured), and goat’s milk flan were all included in the blowout feast, which looked delicious.
Across the country in Roslindale, Mass., Delicious Dishings ate at Redd’s in Rozzie, a restaurant committed to working with farmers, using hormone-free meats, and sourcing all ingredients responsibly. They sampled hushpuppies with an onion-bacon ragù, crispy fried avocado with buttermilk dressing, local grilled cheese with sweet potato, pulled pork sandwich (pictured), and a chocolate tart.
In San Antonio, Man Up Texas BBQ visited The Smoke Shack, a trailer decked out to look like a run-down shack. They tried the pulled pork, quarter chicken (dark), brisket slider, pulled-chicken slider, two pork ribs, and the photos look great.
