Urban Summer Cocktail Recipe

Urban Summer Cocktail Recipe

There's more to this drink than just a great name. Created by Ronald Flores, mixologist at D.C.'s ArtBar and 2011 ARTINI winner, the cocktail is the product of one the bartender's biggest influences: seasonal ingredients. Inspired by marjoram he had growing in his garden, the taste of this rum-based concoction matches the wonderful aroma.

Deliver Ingredients

  • 2 ounces white rum (preferably Nessum Blanc)
  • 1 ounce Hum liqueur
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Splash of agave syrup
  • Ice
  • 1 sprig marjoram

Combine the rum, liqueur, lime juice, and agave syrup and shake with ice. Serve on the rocks in a Collins glass and garnish with a sprig of fresh marjoram.

Summer Shopping Tip

As an alternative to sugary, salty, processed foods, try shopping for fruits and vegetables that are in season.

Summer Cooking Tip

For a healthier alternative, substitute honey or molasses for sugar in baking recipes, and use a 3:1 blend of canola oil to olive oil instead of butter when cooking over the flame.
