This new installation features the video works of four artists that further the understanding of the world through the familiar form of documentary. These four artists – Andrea Geyer, Camille Henrot, Laure Prouvost and A. L. Steiner – all present video works of varying length, some with associated installations and multi-channel displays. These videos feature locations and characters from across the country and from varying backgrounds, including Camille Henrot's award-winning showing, "Grosse Fatigue," shot within the Smithsonian Institution. These exquisite pieces of jewelry show the innovations the organization created throughout its history in the business and even features some original pieces from Elizabeth Taylor's private collection. The interior of one of Britain's most well-known and well-furnished homes has come to Houston. The national tour of "Houghton Hall: Portrait of an English Country House" stops in Houston for a while to show off the extensive collection of art, furniture and other home goods that call Houghton Hall, one of the most renowned and extensive collection of 18th and 19th century art in the United Kingdom, their home. These intricate and beautiful works of art are arranged in "rooms" in the museum, so viewers can see how they would have been displayed and used in their time. Be sure to check out the collection of Sevres porcelain, one of the best in the world.

One of the newest museums in the Houston Area, the Katy Contemporary Arts Museum is full of wonderful pieces from both established and newcomer artists. Located in Old Town Katy, west of downtown Houston, this newcomer to the scene has a lot of momentum and a great initial offering, as well as traveling exhibits. In its galleries, you can view photographs, paintings and sculptures from many artists, including Paola Isola, John Irizarry and Lee Benner. Part of the Texas Masters Series at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is an exhibition of Sandie Zilker's stunning metalworking. Spanning more than 40 years of her time as a craftsman, the pieces showcase her mastery of color, illusion, form and much more. Zilker teaches at the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, where she is the head of the Jewelry and Enamel Department. This instinct to teach shows up in this exhibit, which features videos explaining her creative process alongside her metalworking and jewelry art.
