The Butterfly House is one of the St. Louis area's cherished attractions. You don't have to travel far from home to enjoy over 60 different species of butterflies and more than 150 tropical plants. Take an afternoon to stroll through the beautiful gardens, inside and out. Pick up great tips for planting your own butterfly oasis, as the staff here is eager to help you in your gardening leisure activity. Regular admission prices are $6 per person, but seniors, 65 and over, are admitted for $5. Prices for children are a bargain, as well, at $4 for kids three to 12 years of age, and children under two are free. There is no reason to come without the grandkids. If you are a member of the Missouri Botanical Garden, admission is always free.

There is never a time of year, or a time of your life, when you won't enjoy the Missouri Botanical Garden. Members and patrons enjoy the beautiful garden and its attractions and services all year round. The Missouri Botanical Garden is a resource for everyone who loves all that nature has to offer. Each year, one of the most loved attractions is the Japanese Festival. This year it runs from August 30 to September 1, 2014. Admission for seniors, 65 and over, who are also residents of St. Louis City or County, is only $3. Admission is free on Wednesday and Saturday mornings before noon, so early risers benefit even more.

Seniors can enjoy free parking, passes to the Zoo Line Railroad and discounts at the Zoo gift shop and food purchases, among other great benefits, all for $50 annually. The Zoo is a great way to entertain family and friends and a Senior membership just enhances the experience.

A wonderful addendum to St. Louis' metro transit is the Forest Park Trolley. While you are enjoying your trip to the Zoo, hop on board the trolley and stop at the Art Museum, Boat House, The Jewel Box, Steinberg Rink and other hot spots in the park. It's a quaint and convenient way to enjoy some of St. Louis' most beloved landmarks. The rates are incredibly reasonable, too. For only $2, adults can ride all day, but seniors ride for only $1. So let someone else do the driving. You can't beat the price or the convenience.
