Toby Keith's Anti-Gun Restaurant Angers Packing Patrons
For those who like to eat and shoot, you may want to stay out of country star Toby Keith's anti-gun establishment. The I Love This Bar and Grill in Woodbridge, Va., enforced a "No Guns Allowed" policy over the weekend that actually has some patrons upset. Eater reported that the restaurant defended their new policy on Facebook, saying, "... we at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill, with guidance from the State of Virginia and based on insurance regulations, have adopted a no weapons policy. It is our desire to provided [sic] a safe, enjoyable and entertaining experience for our patrons and staff."
While some are in support of the enforced "family-friendly environment," some commenters felt that it was a poor choice to exclude gun-toters from the establishment, despite the fact that owners are allowed to choose the policy.
The Internet uproar is slightly surprising. Despite the fact that it isn't technically illegal to carry a gun, mixing guns and booze is, according to Virginia State law: "Any person permitted to carry a concealed handgun who is under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while carrying such handgun in a public place is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor..."
With the law and some local support on its side, the country singer's place shouldn't be under too much fire, both literally and figuratively!
