Tips

  • You must try their eggs benedict!
  • Crab cake Benedict! Yowza!
  • Very good food. Bbq sandwich is smoked and omelette is very good.
  • Southern Benedict.....I get it every time, it's so amazing. Makes you want to slap your momz good.
  • Sundried tomato and pesto cheese cake appetizer is worth killing for.
  • Fried green tomato BLT. Yes please.
  • Breakfast! The best in town!
  • Get the fried oyster po'boy. Really fresh oysters and amazing roumelade.
  • Fried Chicken BLT is the best.
  • Love The Basics, been going there for years, always a great choice. Brunch, lunch or dinner you cant go wrong. One of my favs is the bird w. Hopping John and Mac n cheese.
  • Try a sampling of things with the pick 3 vegetable plate.
  • Neat little spot on Front St. We had a rough wait time but that happens sometimes. The fried okra was great. The fish looked worth eating.
  • Smoked short ribs, johnny cakes, basil-strawberry pound cake.
  • The blueberry oatmeal pancakes were really delicious! If I didn't live 6.5 hours away I would go often.
  • Amazing breakfasts. Not a fan of their lunch
  • THE MEATLOAF!!!!
  • Dining critic Tom Parks says, "I agree with the name and manifesto: "The Basics authentic Southern food. The menu has some great options, ..." Click the More Info link to read his full review.
  • Great simple breakfast selection and the biscuits are great!
  • Pretty poor customer service. Some of their waitstaff have sour attitudes. It put a huge damper on my dining experiences, and I am hesitant to ever give them by business again.
  • They have a very good selection of modern salads.
