Shamrock Shake Smash

Make this favorite treat at home (and grown up)

The best part of every St. Patrick’s day (in our humble opinion) is McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. Mix your own version of this classic treat and add in a little extra Irish spirit for a truly unique, dessert-worthy cocktail.

For the “Shamrock Shake”:

  • 3 Cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 Cup skim milk
  • 1/4 Teaspoon mint extract
  • 4 -6 drops of green food coloring

For the cocktail:

  • 1 bottle or can of Guinness Beer
  • 3 scoops “Shamrock Shake”


For the “Shamrock Shake”:

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

For the cocktail:

Place your milkshake in the freezer to harden for about 30 minutes.

In a pint glass, pour a fresh Guinness 3/4 of the way to the lip of the glass.

Take your milkshake out of the freezer and use an ice cream scoop or large spoon to scoop 2 scoops into your beer.
