Matcha Rice Krispies Treats With Smoked Strawberries

Mix some matcha into your Rice Krispie treats for a sweet, earthy suprise

This recipe, courtesy of Sqirl, uses matcha (powdered green tea) along with brown butter and dehydrated starwberies to seriously amp up the marshmallow square game.


  • 11 Ounces Rice Krispies
  • 4 Ounces brown butter
  • 10 Teaspoons (20 grams) matcha powder
  • 2 Teaspoons salt
  • 7 1/2 Cups marshmallow
  • 1/4 Cup dehydrated strawberries


Mix Rice Krispies, matcha, cut dehydrated strawberries, and salt in a non-reactive bowl.

Brown the butter in a stock pot, then add marshmallows and stir with a wooden spoon.

When brown butter and marshmallows have combined, pour into the Rice Krispies mixture and stir well.

Quickly turn out the mixture into a buttered 1/2-sheet tray. Using slight damp hands (or better yet a bench scraper), flatten out the mixture so that it is even in the pan.

When cooled, remove from the tray and cut into desired shape.
