Maple Bacon-Wrapped Dates

This four-ingredient recipe will instantly become a hit at your next dinner party or family gathering. Serve as an appetizer at a holiday like Thanksgiving or make for a snack.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 6 pitted Medjool dates
  • Six 1-inch sticks of Manchego cheese
  • Maple syrup, to finish

Directions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Place the bacon on a sheet tray and par-cook for 3 minutes on each side. (You want the bacon to be flexible, but no longer raw). Place the bacon on a plate with a paper towel to absorb excess grease and cool.

Slice each date in 1/2 and place the cheese in the center, then wrap ½ piece of bacon around the outside and secure with a toothpick. Put the toothpick through the end of the bacon so the bacon doesn’t fold up during the cooking process.

Place bacon-wrapped dates on a baking tray. Cook for 8–10 minutes or until your desired likeness. Drizzle the warm dates with maple syrup.

Let them cool for 4 minutes before you serve.

Maple Shopping Tip

Be sure to purchase the correct flour a recipe calls for – flours differ in gluten or protein content, making each suited for specific tasks.

Maple Cooking Tip

Insert a toothpick into the center of cakes, bar cookies, and quick breads to test for doneness – it should come out clean or only have a few crumbs clinging to it.
