Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 links turkey sausage
  • 2 cup self-rising cornmeal mix
  • 3 tablespoon self-rising flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • vegetable oil, for deep-frying
Directions
  1. Add butter to a skillet and cook the celery, onion, and sausage over medium-high heat. In a separate bowl, combine self-rising cornmeal and flour. In another bowl, combine milk with a lightly beaten egg. Mix vegetable mixture, cornmeal mixture, and buttermilk mixture together. Drop the batter, 1 fritter at a time, into 350 degrees vegetable oil. Fry until golden brown.
