Pawpaw — The Next Big Fruit?

Pomegranates are still riding their health wave and miracle berries are still making headlines, but NPR has uncovered America's hidden fruit: the pawpaw.

It supposedly tastes like a mango, but creamier, "a little more perfume-y, like a little melon in there," says NPR's Allison Aubrey. The video shows people eating the fruit with a spoon — a spoon! Makes sense. Pawpaw forager Matt Cohen says it "kind of has a custardy texture."

Scientists think this could be the next superfruit, following pomegranate, açai, and cranberries. So hopefully we'll have pawpaw fro-yo sometime soon? (According to the story, there's pawpaw ice cream and pawpaw beer already. Where can we get our hands on that?)
