Oven Baked Skillet S'mores

Oven Baked Skillet S'mores

Is there ever really not a time that the essence of s’mores doesn’t seem appetizing? Possibly… but we like to throw out that disbelief with rules like "don’t wear white past Labor Day" or “wait 30 minutes after eating before swimming.” When the craving for this campfire indulgence hits, desperate times call for desperate measures — and we don’t pass judgment. This recipe was designed for times when you want a s’more, but don’t have access to a firepit or grill. Everything is baked in the oven and couldn’t be easier to prepare.

Oven Baked Skillet S'mores
Total time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
  • 1 package graham crackers (8 ounces), broken into small rectangles
  • 3 milk chocolate bars (4 ounces each), broken into small pieces
  • 2 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup milk or semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Line the inside edge of a 4-inch cast-iron skillet with the graham cracker rectangles, overlapping if necessary, to create a flower-like border.
  3. Add the chocolate to the center of the pan, creating an even layer.
  4. Top the chocolate with the marshmallows and place in oven to bake for 10 minutes.
  5. Top with optional chocolate drizzle and enjoy.
  6. Place chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler or a heatproof bowl set over (not in) a saucepan of simmering water; cook, stirring occasionally, until melted, 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Alternatively, place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl; microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until melted.
