These Incredible Homemade Cakes Look Like Colorful Tapestries

From glossy mirror cakes to stunning tiered wedding creations, we're big fans of colorful cake trends around here. If your sweet tooth craves something colorful, check out these jaw-dropping creations from the Singaporean bakery Batikrolls by Nura.

These cake rolls look more like artful tapestries than cakes meant to be eaten. The buttercream-stuffed cake designs, reminiscent of a rolled-up tropical beach towel, cost between 26 and 28 Singaporean dollars ($18-20 USD) and are sold online.

Each cake is about eight inches long and can be stuffed with Nutella, vanilla, or blueberry buttercream.

Each design of a Batikroll is drawn free-hand to create a stencil, which is then filled in with buttercream colors and then laid over with cake batter before it is baked in the oven. The designs draw upon Batik: the Southeast Asian technique of dying colorful textiles by hand.

"The more intricate the design, the more time and skill is required. Some designs may take over 1 hour to create," Batikrolls told The Daily Meal. "This is why a batik roll cake is not like a traditional roll cake you can buy at any store, it is a carefully skilled work of art that is designed to leave an impression on your eyes, and of course, your tastebuds."

The store will begin taking orders again on July 17. Unfortunately, the cakes can only be shipped to Singaporean, Mayalsian, and Bruneian residents at present.
