This Gene Wilder Tribute Burger Is Just The (Golden) Ticket

In the week since the late great Gene Wilder's passing, there has been no shortage of (often edible) tributes to the comic actor. The latest is the Beauregarde Burger —made with a bright blue and kaleidoscopic rainbow milk bun — from Bar Luca in Sydney, Australia.

The psychedelically colored burger is named after Violet Beauregarde, a character in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, in which the late Wilder played the titular character.

The $16 burger, made with beef, tomato soup jelly, fries, popping cheese, blueberry onion jam, and a special "Wonka sauce," is part of the bar's Wonka Week, which lasts until this weekend. Violet — as you may remember — is turned into a blueberry by the end of the movie, hence the color of the burger and the blueberry onion jam.

The most exciting aspect of the brightly hued burger is that whoever finds a golden ticket in their meal will win a special keyring, which will allow them to get a free burger at Bar Luca every day for one year.
