Doors — or windows, really — opened at 11 a.m., and by noon, had drawn a line of 150 guests and counting. The New York flagship even drew international customers — 50 neatly dressed businessmen who had traveled to the city from Japan waited to try ShackBurgers for the first time, before Shake Shack opens its very first Japanese outpost next year, in Tokyo.

Launching today, exclusively at the Madison Square Park location, is Shake Shack's ParkBurger (single, $7.09; double, $9.39), which is topped with cave-aged Jasper Hill Farm raw cow's milk cheese sauce and all-natural Niman Ranch applewood smoked bacon.

Additionally, for as long as supplies last, Shake Shack will serve the Shack Phoenix, its special-edition beer created in partnership with Brooklyn Brewery.

As if the flagship's return weren't big enough news, this morning, the company's shares rose more than 6.5 percent. An analyst called Shake Shack's performance "historically impressive."
