Oops! Would-Be Restaurant Robbers Butt-Dial 911 While Police Were Inside Eating

These would-be restaurant robbers in Danville, Kentucky make the guys from Home Alone look like expert criminals. According to the Advocate-Messenger, two Kentucky police officers — including Chief Tony Gray — were eating dinner at Brothers' BBQ owner and talking with owner Mike Sutherland, when Gray got the call.

Dispatchers had picked up an accidental 911 call and overheard people on the line planning to rob a nearby business. After triangulating the source of the call, they found it serendipitously came from the Brothers' BBQ parking lot.

"There was some conversation about when they should do it, they might be recognized if they do it in Danville, and I think they did talk about some different locations ..." Gray said. "Somewhere in the conversation, my name was brought up."

The two men — who were found with masks on their person —- were charged only with public intoxication, though the 911 tapes will be investigated as evidence for probable further charges.
