Man Gets Spammed With Hundreds Of Texts For Free Chipotle

'Dude, where's my burrito?' is the question that is probably in the minds of hundreds of Chipotle fans with a 240 area code as a result of a dialing mishap. To make it up to hungry customers after a temporary nationwide closing, the chain offered free burritos to anyone who texted the word 'raincheck' to 888-222 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday.

Unfortunately for technology attorney Hank Levine with the coincidentally unfortunate phone number of 888-2222, in the frenzy to score a free burrito, hundreds of fans incorrectly added an extra '2' to the correct number, thus texting Levine instead of Chipotle, according to Tech Insider.

Though Levine was kind enough to inform customers of their error, the chain does not appear to be concerned regarding the prospect of customers not receiving their free burrito, according to Eater. A Chipotle representative writes, "Hank, You're sweet for wanting to help out our fans that texted the wrong number. There's no need to send them along."
