Hundreds Gather For The Village Voice's Choice Eats Event

Hundreds gathered at the Metropolitan Pavilion last weekend for The Village Voice's ninth annual Choice Eats tasting event, presented by Stella Artois. Guests sampled their way through over 50 restaurants from all five NYC boroughs without even having to get onto a subway.

Highlights included peri peri wings from Streets BK, Fonda's pollo con mole blanco, milk-poached pork from El Quinto Pino, Bara's Spanish mackerel tataki with horseradish and ponzu, and maple-roasted Brussels sprouts with double smoked bacon from Queens Comfort.

A variety of 'Choice Sweets' were also present at the event. Attendees sampled Hibiscus and Chocolate-Cocoa Nib doughnuts from Dough, and pistachio and Valrhona chocolate doughnuts from Doughnut Plant. OddFellows Ice Cream Co. showed off some of its flavors, including a delicious Thai iced tea ice cream, while Ample Hills Creamery brought its salted crack caramel ice cream flavor for guests to try.

The Village Voice worked with non-profit organization Slow Food NYC, the charitable partner of Choice Eats, which will share a portion of the proceeds for the event.
