Go (Red) In The Fight Against AIDS With Mario Batali

Next month, the town is going to be painted (RED). Bono's famed (RED) campaign, which raises awareness in the fight against AIDS, is entering the culinary sphere. Eat (RED), Drink (RED), Save Lives, a month-long awareness campaign, returns for a second year, recruiting Mario Batali, Dominique Ansel, Paul Qui, April Bloomfield, and a host of other talented to chefs to help refocus our efforts to #86AIDS.

"Anyone who has ever worked in a kitchen knows that the sum of our efforts far exceeds what any one of us can do individually," chef Batali told The Daily Meal.  "When it comes to fighting AIDS, too many cooks in the kitchen is a really good thing."

The campaign kicks off with the Infiniti (RED) supper by Mario Batali, featuring red-inspired dishes from five chef duo teams: David Burke and Josh Capon; April Bloomfield and Joey Campanaro; Elizabeth Falkner and Mark Ladner; Michael Symon and Jonathan Waxman; and Michael Schlow and John Besh. Some menu samples include grilled angry red lobster tails with corn salad and Colorado lamb with warm vegetable couscous from chefs Burke and Capon.

Tickets for the event are pretty pricy at $295 per plate, but regular food-loving activists will be able to help all month long by tweeting their support. Last year, The Daily Meal covered the first annual Eat (RED), Drink (RED), Save Lives campaign, during which restaurants all over the country offered RED-inspired dishes with proceeds going to charity.
