Ben & Jerry's Releases Cereal Milk Ice Cream

Ben & Jerry's has big news (and no, it's not vegan): cereal-milk-flavored ice cream. Just in time for National Cereal Day, Ben & Jerry's is releasing three playful "Cereal Splashback" flavors: Frozen Flakes, Cocoa Loco, and Fruit Loot. Each cereal-inspired ice cream concoction is made with cereal-milk ice cream and swirled with flavored crispy pieces.

"So why combine ice cream and cereal? Because the sweet milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl is arguably the best part," Ben & Jerry's flavor guru, Eric Fredette, said in a press release. "We wanted to take our flavor concepts and make people feel like a kid again, which is how we landed our Cereal Splashback flavors."

The Daily Meal staff got the chance to try all of the ice creams. Cocoa Loco was a solid chocolate ice cream, but it was not memorably cereal-like. Any ice cream swirled with chocolate crisps is always welcome in our freezer, but Cocoa Loco wasn't anything we haven't already dug our spoons into many times.

Our staff was divided on Fruit Loot — the powerful artificial fruity flavor threw us for a (froot) loop, to which some editors reacted gleefully while others gave a firm "pass."

The most popular variety among our team was the Frozen Flakes, which — with chunks of sugary crisps — tasted like the ice cream version of a frosted sugar cookie. Who could say no to that?

We're waiting patiently for Lucky Charms ice cream. We already have Lucky Charms oatmeal, after all, so why not "magically delicious" Ben & Jerry's?
