Zumba Fitness Releases Its First Line Of Vegan Protein Shakes

"Baila con la musica!" Zumba Fitness — the dance exercise program that has dominated fitness clubs for the last few years — is finally debuting its own line of vegan, low-sugar protein shakes.

Available in three flavors: "Coco Loco," "Thrilla in Vanilla," and "La Vida Mocha," Zumba Shake Shake Shakes (so nice they had to say it thrice) are 100 calories each, gluten-free, allergen-free, and practically sugar-free.

Zumba claims it is one of the few protein-shake producers to use plant-based proteins instead of dairy-based whey. The company also prides itself on producing a powdered drink that's not chalky, and without a weird aftertaste.

"It's just as important to focus on what doesn't go into a product, along with what does," Zumba CEO Alberto Perlman said. "There is no fructose or any variation of empty sugars and yet, compared to many shakes on the market, we are hyper-focused on providing the best ingredients and taste to support a healthy lifestyle."

The shakes will be released on April 4th. Drinks start at $99 for a 30-pack and you can sign up and get yours here once the launch date hits.

The Daily Meal had a chance to try all three of the new shake varieties, and although the individual chocolate, mocha, and vanilla flavors weren't pronounced, we found they didn't taste strongly like that familiar, off-putting protein shake aftertaste.
