Starbucks is expanding its summer menu to include more than just variations on cold brew and iced coffees. The coffee chain will be introducing granitas, the Italian take on the classic snow cone. Each granita variety is made with shaved ice and topped with flavored syrups and espresso or tea. Here’s the breakdown of the three different flavors available this summer:
Caramel Espresso Granita – A scoop of lightly sweetened finely-shaved ice topped with espresso shots and a splash of cream and finished with a caramel drizzle.[slideshow:
Teavana Youthberry® White Tea Granita – A scoop of lemonade-flavored shaved ice topped with Teavana Youthberry White tea (a blend of white tea, pineapple, açaií and hibiscus).
Strawberry Lemon Limeade Granita – A scoop of lemonade-flavored shaved ice blended with strawberry slices and topped with house-made limeade.
Also joining the menu this summer are warm and gooey desserts, if you’re looking for something a little more substantial to satiate your sweet tooth. The chocolate brownie trifle is made with double chocolate brownies topped with mocha drizzle and the strawberry shortcake trifle is made with small vanilla bean scones layered with a strawberry drizzle and whipped cream.
