MPD Officer Wins 5th Consecutive Charity Eating Contest
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Twin Cities finest stretched their stomachs Tuesday afternoon — all in the name of charity.
Officers from St. Paul, Minneapolis and the Anoka County Sheriff's Department took part in the third annual "Wiener Take All" hot dog eating contest.
The event was hosted by Chris and Rob's Chicago's Taste Authority in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Police Officer Carl White finished six and a half Chicago-style dogs in five minutes. This is his fifth year in a row as reigning champ.
"This year there will be some emails floating around about it and it'll last for about a month," White said. "People will give me some guff for it, then it picks up again around this time, and then I have the pressure to come back again."
Along with bragging rights, Officer White won a $650 donation to the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis' general fund, which helps officers' families.
Wednesday is the official National Hot Dog Day.
Chicago's Taste Authority sells 4,000 hot dogs each month.
