Moroccan Food Is The Most Exciting 2012 Trend
Two weeks ago we predicted the top food trends for 2012, and it seems like Moroccan food might be the most popular.
We asked readers which 2012 food trend they are looking forward to trying the most, and Moroccan food received 60 percent of the vote.
Nordic cuisine came in second, with 26 percent of the vote, and arancinis received 10 percent. Exotic fish dishes, such as paiche, fugu, and toadfish, only received 5 percent.
Moroccan food's win isn't surprising; couscous has become part of the everyday culinary world, and the spiced, healthy cuisine is nothing less than delicious. Nordic cuisine's second place status may be attributed to its highbrow reputation (Noma, anyone?), making it seem challenging to try, even though Nordic cuisine was number one on our list.
Exotic fish, on the other hand, may have come in dead last because of some species' ability to poison eaters if it's not prepared properly (we're looking at you, fugu).
What are you looking forward to trying in 2012?
