London Terror Attack Hero Gets Fitting Tribute From Swedish Brewery
British soccer fan Roy Larner will probably never have to buy his own beer for the rest of his life, after he single-handedly took on three armed combatants during the London terrorist attacks on June 3. Now he's getting a very fitting tribute, because a Swedish brewery has come out with a new beer in his honor.
Larner's story is pretty exceptional. The 47-year-old soccer fan was out with his friends at a steakhouse when three knife-wielding attackers ran into the restaurant, and he decided that if they were looking for a fight, he was going to give it to them.
"They had these long knives and started shouting about Allah," he told The Sun. "Then it was, 'Islam, Islam, Islam.' Like an idiot I shouted back at them."
When the attackers came in, the unarmed Larner jumped up from his seat and shouted, "F*** you, I'm Millwall."
Millwall is Larner's favorite soccer team. It is known for having particularly rowdy fans and a fight song that goes, "No one likes us, we don't care."
The terrorists reportedly started attacking the shouting Larner, who fought back with his bare hands and gave all the staff and diners in the restaurant time to escape. Larner was stabbed eight times in the attack, but he survived. After he was finally released from the hospital, he went back to the steakhouse to finish his beer.
According to The Independent, Sweden's Frequency Beer Works was so astonished by the story that it has come out with a new beer called "F*** you, I'm Millwall" in Larner's honor.
"It just feels like it's one of those stories you want to tell people about because it's amazing – and it's also a great name for a beer," said brewery co-owner David Mortimer.
The beer is an English bitter, and The Independent reports that proceeds from its sale will go to Larner's Just Giving account.
