No yeast? No problem. Soda bread doesn’t call for any yeast, and you can switch up the recipe with ingredients you already have. For example: if you don’t have raisins, swap them out for dried cranberries or orange zest.

Irish Soda Bread
Total time: 50 minutes
Ingredients
  • 4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
  1. Combine all dry ingredients.
  2. Soften butter in the microwave.
  3. Beat the eggs well, and mix in the butter.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients.
  5. Roll the dough into two logs.
  6. Split dough to make two loaves.
  7. Roll into round shape.
  8. Score the dough with an X.
  9. Place the dough on floured pans.
  10. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes or longer (should be golden brown on top).
  11. Enjoy with butter or your favorite jam.
