  • Both polished and relaxed, the Hawthorne is one of the best bars in town. It serves great snacks to match. For instance, Reuben toasts: smoky meat, melted cheese, sharp kraut, and tangy dressing.
  • The collection of art on the walls is wonderful. Gentlemen take particular note of the cartoons in the restroom.
  • They won't accept Canadian driver's licenses and they were playing Matchbox 20. Bring a passport, or better yet, go somewhere else.
  • the men's room has a delightful series of prints depicting superheroes using the toilet.
  • I had heard that The Hawthorne has a bit of a "pretentious" vibe. INCORRECT. Bartenders and staff were friendly, attentive, knowledgable and meticulous. I LOOKED for pretension and found NONE.
  • This place reminds me of the Pottery Barn except with the added (and much needed) element of alcohol. It's awesome.
  • This intimate 18-seat bar gives off a homey vibe & was listed on the CNN Eatocracy top 10 picks of new bars in America. Co-owner Jackson Cannon is one of the finest mixologists in the city.
  • Best cocktails in Back Bay--try the Roscoe Pound, it won't disappoint. Hungry? Grab the crudits with whipped ricotta, pretzel/mustard combo, and the meats and cheeses...nom nom nom.
  • Hooks for purses and outlets for phones under the bar. A small but really handy touch.
  • The Phil Collins is an excellent twist on the Tom Collins drink recipe. It's cucumber flavors make me want to scream "Su-su-sussudio!"
  • You must let Katie make you a Too Soon...freakin delicious!
  • The ladies room has flower prints that, while evocative, are not quite Georgia O'Keefian.
  • Mamie Taylor. Scotch and ginger.. Different, delicious, & dangerous
  • Drinks are amazing. Tell the bartenders what you like and they will concoct a delicious creation! Ramos fizz is worth the wait!!!
  • My bartender just spent a week in Oaxaca studying mescal. Nuff said
  • If you're not feeling any of the cocktails on the menu, tell the bartender the type of drink you're in the mood for -- they can make it happen!
  • I have tasted the nectar of the Gods and it is a Bull Fighter. Whiskey Smash is good also.
  • The cocktail's here are superb, thanks to the expertise of Jackson Cannon and the rest of the staff. Try the Paper Plane, or for something even lighter, an Air Mail.
  • Drinks are the focus at The Hawthorne. Bites such as deviled eggs with crisp prosciutto and grilled cheese are available, but they play second fiddle to perfectly made Aviations and Hanky Pankies.
  • If we didn't have dinner reservations, and I weren't driving, I would totally order a second Electric Boomerang Banana. Don't fear the frosty silliness; it's so good!
