A Guide To Vancouver's September Food Events

As August gives way to September, it's easy to think that winter is on its way and all the summer fun is over. Not so! There are three very cool events in store for the month of September, and one even in the works for October.

Taiwanfest: From August 31st to September 2nd, Taiwanfest, a festival of Taiwanese food, music, dance, and film will be taking place at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza. The festival will feature an event called the Taiwanese Street Banquet, where guests will learn to create oyster rolls, one-cut meat, sweet sago cream with taro, cold mussels in sauce, rice cakes, and flying fish sausage.

Feast of Fields: On September 8th, Farm Folk/ City Folk's annual harvest festival will draw urbanites to rural farms for picnics. Chefs, vinters, brewers, and artisan from across the region will showcase some of the finest food and drink that Canada has to offer. The wandering harvest festival will take place over 4 hours, and tickets can be bought through the website.

Summer Night Market: This market will be ongoing until September 8th. Foods on offer include Xinjiang BBQ (Lamb, Chicken wings, rack of lamb) Deep Fried Chicken; Spicy Stick Rice; Bubble Tea; Deep Fried Meatball, Black pepper noodles Fishballs, simulated shark fin soup, siumiu, bottled drinks and BBQ Tofu, Lamb and squid.

Fraser Valley Food Show: From October 4th to 6th, the Fraser Valley Food Show will be held at the Tradex Exhibition Centre in Abbottsford. There will be local and international food, cooking demonstrations, cooking and sausage making competitions, cheese and wine seminars, and a beer, wine, and spirits tasting pavilion.
