Grilled Spiral Franks

Chef Duran — of The Food Network's Ham on the Street and TLC's Ultimate Cake Off — developed  a fun grilled frank recipe that it puts a spin on run of the mill hotdogs. Chef Durans says "It’s such a simple recipe, but never fails to impress my guests.  Thread beef franks through skewers and then slice down the length of each frank, while rotating the skewer for a perfect spiral cut." Due to its simplicty and visual appeal, the grilled spiral franks recipe is easily one of the best grilled recipes.

Ingredients
  • grilling spray
  • 4 beef franks
  • 4 bamboo skewers, soaked
  • 4 hot dog rolls
  • 1/4 cup natural ketchup
  • 4 teaspoon spicy brown mustard
Directions
  1. Spray gas grill with grilling spray. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Meanwhile, carefully thread franks on skewers. To make spiral cuts with a paring knife, carefully cut down side of each frank while rotating skewer the entire length of the frank. Slightly pull frank apart to expose spiral shape.
  2. Grill 5 minutes or until franks are hot, turning occasionally. Remove franks from skewers. Place franks in rolls; add garnish with ketchup and mustard.
