FoodyDirect, an online delivery website that ships from restaurants and bakeries in New York, has given The Daily Meal an exclusive on their coffee-graphic promotion. With facts we didn't even know about the simple drink, it provides some substantial information.

Historically, coffee originated from Yemen way back in the 1400s. It later spread to the Middle East, turkey, and Iran through trade. As coffee beans grew popularity, there was the idea of creating the first coffee house in Venice in the mid 1600s. Coffee finally made its way to the US in the late 1770s. We can thank the Frenchman, Gabriel de Clieu for bringing these seedlings to us!

Over the years, coffee has grown to be more and more popular. Those lines in the morning for just one cup of coffee have grown to be longer. Just two years ago, a little more than half of Americans were coffee drinkers.

Our addiction to coffee has increased tremendously! For some of us, it's not something we simply enjoy, but something we rather must have (call it an addiction, if you must.)
