Earlier this month, eleven-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater opened a pop-up chia shop in his home state of Hawaii, and thus concludes the most Hawaiian sentence you’ve ever read.
It’s true, though. Slater, who is already the global ambassador for the Chia Co’s Chia Pod, got the gig after the company saw one of Slater’s Instagram posts: a breakfast of chia seeds and coconut milk.
The Chia Co reached out to Slater and invited him to visit their chia farms in Western Australia so he could learn about the science of growing chia.
Aside from chia being a part of Slater’s daily diet, the pro surfer apparently impressed the company with his commitment to reading the ingredient panel of all the packaged food he eats.
“I think it’s hugely important,” Slater announced through a press release from the Chia Co.
“I couldn’t understand why someone wouldn’t want to read that and know what’s going in their body.”
