Elie Saab Couture Spring 2014: Gowns Fit For A Modern Princess
We like to think of Elie Saab as our fairy godmother; if we're ever in need of a gown to catch prince charming, you can bet he has one that is fit for a princess. The Elie Saab Couture Spring 2014 collection was no exception—every dress could be worn as a bridal gown, red-carpet stunner or serve as Kate Middleton's new go-to favorite. Sparkling beading, layers of tulle and floral appliques were all over the runway, with shapes that celebrated the female form.

Refusing to stick to one silhouette Saab touched on everything, from Grecian dresses to puffy ball gowns to modern ombré patterns and sheer skirts. Some were soft and delicate while others took on a much more daring sexual appeal. Strategically placed fabrics made for sensual undertones rather than overtly provocative statements. The dresses moved beautifully showing once again, Saab's understanding of structure.
On the flip side of that coin, Saab's models are known for having to walk around those layers, trains and beads that make his dresses so dreamlike—and every once in a while a model goes flying. Sure, it happens a lot more when you have all that fabric wrapped around your feet, but the model that dropped during this runway show gracefully got herself back up, wobbled a bit and finished the show without any further problems.
Even with models dropping unceremoniously to the floor, the show was a beautiful success; perfectly structured gowns in color palettes of rich red and gold as well as soft pastels of blue and lavender gave each dress an appeal all its own. While cut in various styles and lengths, the light lace, flowing fabric and intricate detailing tied the collection together.
What we loved most was that we could easily see a few of our favorite celebrities topping the best dressed list with these pieces, and more than a few being worn on the red-carpet this year. But what truly made these gowns beautiful was that with all the different styles, cuts and textures any woman regardless of her age, shape or body type could shimmy into one and feel like a princess.
