What To Expect At The 2015 Wellfleet OysterFest

Every year, the Wellfleet OysterFest comes to the town of Wellfleet on Cape Cod, and in 2015 it'll be returning for its 15th year on the weekend after Columbus Day, October 17 through 19. The festival celebrates the area's bounty of clams, oysters, and other shellfish, and it should be a fun weekend for the whole family.

The schedule of events is filled to bursting. There are art shows, exhibits, an oyster shuck-off, live music, lectures, shopping, and comedy, but the main focus of attention will be on the food. On Friday night, the "Oysterfete" will take over Preservation Hall for an elegant evening of oysters and wine, and the five-course Champagne and Caviar Dinner will be held at PB Boulangerie & Bistro. On Saturday, a "Taste the Terroir and Merroir" seminar will pair local oysters and wines, guests can tour oyster flats, and explore Mayo Beach. Sunday kicks off with a 5K road race, and later there's a cooking demo from chef Michael Ceraldi, a lecture on sea turtles, and the oyster shucking finals.

There will be plenty of oysters to go around at this year's OysterFest, and you certainly can't beat the setting.
