Climate Change Will Affect the World's Wheat Supply
A recently published report claimed that if global temperatures rise 1 degree Celsius, the world's supply of wheat will be cut by 6.8 percent. Humans consume about 500 million tons of wheat annually, so that would impact a sizable chunk of our glutinous appetites. Warmer areas of the world like India would be hit the hardest, but all around the world, our supply of pasta and bread would shrink significantly.
Olive Garden to Sell 21,000 Never Ending Pasta Passes
For those who truly cannot get enough of Olive Garden's Never Ending Pasta Bowl, the chain is selling 21,000 Never Ending Pasta Passes beginning Sept. 15. For $100, you can get unlimited pasta for an unlimited number of times for seven weeks. The chain will be auctioning off additional Pasta Passes on eBay, and 100 percent of the proceeds from the eBay sales will be donated to Feeding America.
Woman Arrested for Stealing Policeman's French Fries
A police officer got very protective of his plate of fries: He actually charged a woman with second-degree theft after she ate some fries off his plate. The police officer was eating at a diner when a woman came up and ate one of his fries, reportedly in an attempt to try to start a conversation. He told her to stop because he had paid for them, and her eating them without his consent counted as theft. She ate another one, so he arrested her.
