Americans love whiskey. According to data collected by the drinking app BARTRENDr from 700,000 users, whiskey is America's most popular liquor. People from 42 states said they enjoy some form of whiskey, with Fireball and Jack Daniels the most popular brands.
Someone Set Up an Indiegogo Page to Help Chef José Andrés Pay His Lawsuit
As you may have heard, Donald Trump is suing José Andrés for $10 million after the chef decided not to open a restaurant in Trump's new hotel. Andrés decided to "Dump Trump" after the presidential candidate made derogatory comments about Mexican immigrants. Well, someone set up an Indiegogo page to help Andrés with his legal expenses. The campaign's goal is to raise $100,000. In the past two weeks, donations have reached $7,362.[pullquote:right]
Trump Pledges to Not Eat Any More Oreos
In other Trump food news, "The Donald" has pledged not to eat Oreos. The manufacturer of the cream-filled cookies, Mondelēz International, recently decided to move operations to Mexico, which changed Trump's mind about the cookies. He's asking supporters to take a no-more-Oreos pledge in protest of the decision to move about 600 American jobs across the border. Trump said he ate Oreos "More than he should" before his boycott.
Tickets for David Chang's New Pop-Up Indian Steakhouse Sold Out in Under 2 Minutes
Tickets for super chef David Chang's new pop-up Indian steakhouse sold out in under two minutes. Ruth Krishna's, his one-night-only pop-up steakhouse with chef Akhtar Nawab, was apparently highly anticipated. It started out as a joke, but David Chang's satirical Lucky Peach article on a "hot" new Indian steakhouse that will come to life for one night only September 17 seems to have generated quite the interest. If you want biryani onion rings, creamed saag paneer, and a tandoori ribeye, you may have to bribe someone for a black market reservation.
These People Completely Recreated the Simpsons Kitchen in Their Own Home
Lastly, some super-fans renovated their kitchen and turned it into an exact replica of the kitchen from The Simpsons, corn cob curtains and all. When Marcia Andreychuk and Joel Hamilton were remodeling their home, they threw around ideas for a kitchen theme and one stuck: a real-life homage to animated TV's most famous family. The couple jokes that their next project will be to turn their basement into Moe's Tavern. We'll raise a can of Duff to that!
