Welcome to The Daily Meal's Daily Dish, where we highlight what's hot and trending in the world of all things food and drink.
Today's first course?
Would You Drink Water Infused with Fat? Apparently It's Healthy
Would you drink water infused with fat? There's a new drink, called FATWater, that's made with fat extracted from coconut oil. Why? Its inventor claims the oil helps our body's cells absorb water and provides an energy boost. FATWater is only available in Los Angeles for now (go figure), but its inventor David Asprey plans to expand nationwide.
New York Is the Latest State to Ban the Sale of Powdered Alcohol
Have you heard of Palcohol? The powdered alcohol product conceived so that you could carry a cocktail around without lugging a bottle of booze? The product has had a rocky road to approval (there are concerns that it makes underage drinking easier) and New York's Gov. Andrew Cuomo is the latest legislator to ban it. New York joins more than 20 states that have outlawed Palcohol.
DC Diner Debuts the Trump Sandwich: 'Full of Bologna'
In presidential election news, one restaurant in Washington, D.C., recently introduced a new menu item that pays homage to The Donald. It's called "The Trump Sandwich: Full of Bologna," and its creators at the American Diner say it's "big enough to fit in Trump's mouth."
1 Scoop for Bernie: Ben & Jerry's Announces Endorsement of Sanders for 2016
And count one scoop for Bernie! Ben & Jerry's endorsed Bernie Sanders for 2016, backing the junior United States Senator from Vermont as this year's Democratic candidate for president. So what would a Ben & Jerry's Bernie Sanders flavor look like? Co-founder Ben Cohen said if they were to make the flavor, it would be called Bernie's Rebellion and would contain an equal number of peanuts to pecans (to emphasize Bernie's stance on equality) and chocolate chips molded into the shape of graduation caps.[pullquote:right]
French Cow Gets Happy Ending After Daring Slaughterhouse Escape
This next story will warm the heart of even the most ardent burger lover: Last month, a cow in southeastern France escaped a slaughterhouse, shook off captors, and made a break for it. She was eventually stopped with a tranquilizer dart and re-captured, but this turned out to be a lucky turn of events, because it made her legally unfit for consumption until the drug left her system. Enter the Internet, where, after naming her "Cornette, the cow that refused to die," her fans raised more than $2,000 to buy her and move her to a farm where city children are taught about agriculture. Now she's pregnant and will live out her life with her calf at a farm with visiting schoolchildren. That's pretty much the happiest ending you can imagine for a cow.
And that's today's Daily Dish. Thanks for watching. Stop by tomorrow fornbsp;another helping.
