Tips

  • If this spot feels a bit like Gemma at the Bowery Hotel, it's because it's built/designed by the same group (Sean MacPherson).
  • The short rib au poivre is fantastic
  • Get yourself here! Clams amandine: great! Steak au poivre: great! Pommes pure: great! Bouillabaise: great! Citrus tart: great! Lamb carpaccio: TO DIE FOR! I will be back soon!!!
  • The chai-bourbon isn't as grand as I hoped it be, but a regular bourbon old fashioned here is really pretty great.
  • New spot Dirty French, specializes in traditional dishes like Cote de Boeuf alongside Moroccan dishes and even creole flavors from Louisiana.
  • The lamb carpaccio, the terrine and the mushroom millefeuille (sup Pete Wells best NYC dishes of '14!) to start. And then the duck because obviously. Finish it with beignets.
  • Go for cocktails, pass on the food.
  • Mediocre food, expensive for no reason. NY's hottest opening of 2014 is a fiasco...
  • It's all about the beignets!
  • Amazing ambience.
  • the Pigalle and Grand Prix were my favorites. snag a spot on the furry couches and pretend you're John Snow.
  • Nothing wrong with getting a little dirty...
  • Decor and vibe is awesome. Good is hit or miss.
  • From the pre-dinner proper cocktail, to the appetizers, to the entres and sides, right up to dessert, absolutely everything is superbly well done and tasty. Hugely recommend.
  • The duck l'orange is one of the best aged duck I've had in NYC. Two large pieces of breast meat, aged for 30 days then cooked in a 850 degree oven for 20 mins, perfectly tender and full of flavor.
  • Came here for lunch food is good but the service is super slow. Even at lunch?!? No bueno
  • Def a tough resi to get. Loved the ambience & overall style. flatbread with cheese spread is hands down the best bread ever! Must have the grilled oysters & lamb carpaccio! Both are heaven!
  • Reservations are difficult to get at Dirty French, but the mustard-heavy Pork Chop, the perfectly seasoned Tuna Tartare, and the signature Lamb Carpaccio are well worth the effort.
  • The best thing about the Dirty French is that you can take a shit in their bathroom. Long live Max Fish! La resistance!
  • the flatbread hype is real. the chicken for two is ace... wasn't impressed with the 30 day aged duck but get it to try for yourself.
