  • The dessert tasting menu at Contra's is now available Tuesdays through Saturdays. Walk-ins are accepted Tuesdays through Thursdays. The three course flight costs $20.
  • Contra is the new Lower East Side restaurant from chefs Fabian von Hauske (formerly of Faviken and Noma) and Jeremiah Stone (Isa).
  • Expect two delicious desserts on the $55 tasting menu, as well as a special surprise.
  • Homemade bread and butter is delicious, but don't dare ask for bread platesthey don't have any.
  • Little crescents of celery in your elderflower-granita dessert, or pears blended into the onion soubise on your slow-roasted cod. Some of these unexpected elements work beautifully.
  • Bits of smoked boudin scattered about a guinea hen were almost enough to distract from the birds sweet, lacquered skin, and wound up being the mysterious, funky dark to the hens juicy lightness.
  • Get here before they score their Michelin Star(s) and you can't get in anymore. Amazing.
  • When they say supplement dish, you jump on it. Best decision you made all year.
  • Great experience for a $55 tasting - the chicken w/ fried skin was cooked to pefection. Left a bit hungry, but did notice the portions getting noticeably larger at other tables as the night went on.
