Organic Gardening For Your Cooking

Many people today shun the need of organic gardening. After all, why bother with a whole garden and spend precious minutes or hours in the garden, working, when you can do something you will enjoy far more. And why bother when you can simply spray your garden with all the marketable fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, and leave the garden to tend for itself. There are so many GM foods nowadays, so somebody is doing something right, right? Well, not exactly. Many people also ignore the fact that by using all these chemicals, they are literally poisoning their own food. You should not follow any of these people's advice. Organic gardening is not dead, and as many people there are who prefer the easy way, there are just as many hard working people who shed sweat for their healthy food. And you can and should be one of the latter, especially if you enjoy spending time in the kitchen, creating wonderful meals for yourself and your family. Work for the good state of the ingredients you put in your food to have more satisfaction both because you made them yourself, and because you proved so many people wrong. When starting an organic garden, the first thing you should do is leaf clearance and lawn maintenance. Remove all the bothersome grass from your way and hoe down the place you will be locating your garden on. Consult with a gardening expert, a gardening book or the internet to see if your soil is fertile, and if not, get some organic fertilizer from your local agricultural shop. Yes, it is a bit more expensive as it is a rare sight nowadays, but you are investing in your health, so there is no price for that. Otherwise, if you are patient, you can start a compost from all the waste you piled up instead of throwing it away. You should do some research on how to do that. And, if you did weed control earlier, be careful about what kind of weeds you place in your compost – some of them, if composted correctly, will do wonders for your garden, but others will completely destroy any attempt of planting you make. Learn about active composting to get rid of the more dangerous weeds, and soon your compost will be done. You can use it to fertilize your garden, and then you can start planting. Plant everything a cook would need: fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices. Read about taking care of the different types of plants so that you do not do anything uninformed. You may opt to start with something simple so that you are certain that you will know what you are doing in your future attempts. Practice makes perfect, and you can continue practicing for as long as you wish. Make your organic garden the talk of the neighbourhood and surprise your neighbours with good quality food made of organic good quality products. Make the best food for yourself and your family, and do it without hurting the environment.
