Here's Where To Go For DC Capital Pride Weekend

Washington, D.C. is a city where everyone wears their politics on their sleeve. During Capital Pride Month, the city celebrates diversity and LGBT rights with a full menu of fun things to eat, drink, see, and do. 

Between June 7 and June 10, restaurants in the nation's capital will show their true colors in support of the Capital Pride Festival. A rainbow of PRIDE colors will decorate restaurants and a wide range of PRIDE-themed happy hours, cocktails, activities, and unique dishes are being served across the city. Look for goodies like rainbow ice cream cones created by a Michelin-starred pastry chef, bright cocktails, and colorful, multi-layered almond cakes. BRABO Brasserie Serves "The Rainbow Collection" Cocktail Series This June

Date: June 1 to June 30

Location: 1601 King St., Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia

Details: The folks at BRABO Brasserie, in partnership with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, have decided two days are not enough time to properly celebrate LGBT PRIDE month. Instead, this French boîte will be featuring "The Rainbow Collection," a swanky cocktail menu, until the end of June. This swanky cocktail menu features a new cocktail each day, and 100% of the sales benefit The Trevor Project, which is America's largest crisis and suicide prevention lifeline serving gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people.

Le Diplomate is Where to Go for a Patio Party for the PRIDE Parade

Date: Saturday, June 9, 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Location: 1604 14th St. NW, Washington, DC

Details: If you want a good vantage point for the Capital Pride Parade book a table on the patio at Le Diplomate. Le Diplomate the final stop on the parade route and has a joie de vivre vibe that's perfect for chilling out, ordering a cocktail or two and sampling the incredible rainbow ice cream cones served by Glaces de Diplomate, the restaurant's ice cream cart. This is not store bought but haute, handmade ice cream from Michelin-starred pastry chef Fabrice Bendano. Ooh, la la!

Osteria Morini Celebrates Capital PRIDE with Cake

Date: Thursday, June 7 to Sunday, June 10

Location: 301 Water St. SE, Washington, DC

Details: DC Capital Pride lets people express themselves freely and for some their individuality is best expressed with an indulgent dessert, or more specifically, the special PRIDE cake created by Tova Hillman, the pastry chef at Osteria Morini. For $10 (FYI, 100% of that goes to (Capital Pride Alliance) you can satisfy your sweet tooth by trying her five-layer Rainbow Almond Cake. It's five layers of moist almond flour cake filled with alternating layers of raspberry and apricot jam that's covered in a decadent chocolate glaze.

Pizzeria Vetri Shows Their PRIDE Support with Pizza and Art

Date: Thursday, June 7 to Sunday, Thursday, June 14

Location: 2221 14th Street NW, Washington, DC

Details: Supporting PRIDE month says a lot about how you choose to love and Pizzeria Vetri is showing their commitment to LGBT rights by commissioning street artist Amberella to create an exclusive design for the pizza boxes for the limited run Arcobaleno (rainbow) Pride Pizza. Each pizza is topped with pine nuts, pesto, charred baby carrots, stracciatella, Parmigiano, and sorrel and can be taken home, in-store or via delivery from Caviar, in the "Choose Love" box. One dollar from every Pride Pizza sold goes to Capital Pride Alliance, and if you enter the Instagram competition (that lasts the entire month of June), you can compete for a chance to win a year of free pizza from Pizzeria Vetri and a one-of-a-kind work of art from Amberella.
